Despite its name, SUPERAntispyware Free Edition can protect your PC against multiple types of malware, including spyware, adware, viruses, Trojans, rootkits, keyloggers and rogues. It has an intuitive interface, but its visual design is poor. It allows various types of scans, such as quick scan, complete scan, critical point scan and custom scan. Additionally, there is the so-called rescue scan for highly infected systems.
This is actually the free version of a paid antivirus program; thus, by buying a license, you get access to additional features, such as automatic updates, real-time protection, scheduled scans and malware blocking. However, both the free and the paid versions have the same malware-detection capabilities. Since it is very difficult for a common user to test an AV application’s effectiveness, we should generally rely on tests performed by specialized companies and agencies. Unfortunately, it ranks very low in comparison with other similar applications. It is said that it cannot effectively remove some malware programs or block some threats. Luckily for me, it did not find any threats on my PC when I ran it. However, it has the advantage of being fully compatible with popular antivirus tools, such as Kaspersky, Norton AV and McAfee. Thus, it can be used to complement them by detecting malware that may go undetected.
